This is a very rare 1st edition copy of "The Arabian Nights: Their Best-Known Tales" by Kate Douglas Wiggin and Nora A. Smith, illustrated by Maxfield Parrish, published in 1909 by Charles Scribner's Sons in New York, NY. The subject of the book is the One Thousand and One Nights stories, and it is an original print of this particular book in English language. The book is of particular interest to collectors and enthusiasts of antique books. It is 339 pages in length. Considering its age (115), the book is in good condition. It was a gift to a family member in 1909, when he was a young child, on the occasion of Christmas. The scratches on the book cover could possibly be a result of its being handled and read by a young boy. That same page has $75- written in pencil at top right, which may have been the original price, since the provenance of the book is known, and it was gifted to my relative and remained in my family all of these years and was never resold. Condition-wise, the book binding is tight, except for the page following the page with the note, at which the binding is loose (See photo.), Otherwise, the paper has yellowed a bit with age, but all pages are in tact, there are no marks or tears in the book, and the illustrations by Maxfield Parrish are still vibrant and impressive.
