I haven't been able to find any information on line about this publisher, but it was apparently part of Rodale Inc. About the author (French wikipedia): Ernest-Louis-Victor-Jules L'Épine, also called Ernest Manuel L'Épine or more simply Ernest L'Épine, or by the pseudonym Quatrelles, is a French writer and playwright born in Paris on September 12, 1826 and died in Paris 16th February 4, 1893. Biography: Secretary to the Duke of Morny, in 1865 he became referendum advisor to the Court of Auditors, was a member of the Society of Men of Letters and chief of staff to the President of the Legislative Body. He wrote a few plays with Alphonse Daudet: La Dernier Idole (1862, under the pseudonym Ernest Manuel), L'Œillet blanc (1865), Le Frère père (1867) and published, either under his name or under the pseudonym of Quatrelles, volumes where we find a slightly mannered verve and humor: The Legend of Croquemitaine (1863), The Dazzling Princess (1869), A Rifle Shot (1875, on the war of 1870) , Théâtre des Folies-Quatrelles (1882), Mon petit Dernier (1885), Colin Tampon (1885), A outrage (1888), A year of reign (1891), History of Captain Castagnette, The stagecoach of Ploërmel, etc. Seller's note: This present volume is from The Legend of Croquemitaine, French title La Légende de Croquemitaine. Condition: Binding - very good, top of spine bumped, bottom of spine slightly bumped, spine is a little sun darkened or soiled, no bumping of the corners or edges, very slight soiling of the side page edges otherwise pages are in fine condition with no soiling or discoloration, copyright date erased on copyright page, page numbers are very faint and hard to see. Dust jacket - good, in the back of the book is laid in a folded glassine book cover, may be fragile with age, has fold creases. Slipcase - very good, all the seams are intact, the paper covering is a little worn around the opening, minor soiling.
