Description: Two (2) stereoview photographs of the French actress Augustine Brohan, probably at the Theatre Dejazet in Paris, France, by M., circa 1860s. The two views are identical, except for the tinting in the second view. They are from the series Actualites Theatrales and are both identified in period ink on the reverse simply as Augustine, Dejazat. I believe this is the famous French actress Augustine Brohan, most likely in the costume of a character that she portrayed at the Theatre Dejazet. Augustine poses for her photograph in this portrait view reclining on a daybed dressed in a fanciful plaid costume with a Scottish style cap or tam. The bottom view is tinted in bright colors which tend to obscure the plaid pattern. The two stereoviews are in good or better condition with only light wear and soiling. The photographs in the untinted top view exhibit good or better tonal range and show good or better detail. Those in the tinted lower view are a bit lighter and show only good detail. A nice pair of French theater related images!
