Description: CANNOT SHIP TO CA, FL, NV or INTERNATIONALLY Up for grabs are 2 (TWO) native Allegheny Chinquapin seedlings (dwarf chestnut). Castanea pumila is one of only three native chestnut species in the US. The trees are very adaptable, growing in mixed shade/sun to full sun in various types of soils. In the wild they are understory trees and do great with other trees for companions. The nuts are small, delicious chestnuts that are tasty both to humans and wildlife. Great for your homestead or hunting plots. Everyone loves to eat them. The seedlings you’ll receive are small, year-old seedlings that will be shipped DORMANT and BARE ROOT. They are grow in root pruning pots which yield excellent root development so they can really take off next year. They should be planted immediately outdoors or potted in a cool garage or basement if you would prefer to plant them in the spring. We generally plant them now. We use tree protector tubes to ensure their safety outdoors. Volume discounts for multiple orders. Get them while they last! All proceeds go to Project Ogre a 501(3)c charity dedicated to protecting and sharing our native wildlands.
