Description: PORTUGUESE CERAMIC2 Shards Fragments16th century / 17th century Dimensions (right to left):- 6.5cm x 4cm- 7.5cm x 4.5cm Portuguese ceramics have always been among the most famous and best-made in the world. These fragments were parts of pottery that today are very difficult to find in full, and those that do exist are sold for thousands of euros. Portuguese ceramics from this period were largely imported to France, Holland, Belgium and England. The ceramics were mostly made in convent workshops. Many of the pottery transported by the Portuguese at this time, due to the turbulence of the sea, broke during the journey and when they arrived at the port of Lisbon they threw them into the river. The earthquake of 1755 also caused the city of Lisbon to be completely destroyed and the pottery from previous centuries broke. Much of the debris from the earthquake, such as the broken pottery, was thrown into the Tagus River, from where I collected these fragments. These fragments did not come from any digging or excavation!! These PORTUGUESE SHARD FRAGMENT OF CERAMIC it's very rare to find.
