Dredge on the Swan near the Blue River In 1909 this boat was working in difficult ground with many huge “boulders”. It has 9 1/2 ft. open-connected buckets. Two identical electrically driven dredges began near Valdoro, one advancing up the Swan; the other, after working down the Swan, moved up the Blue. The degrees were designed to dig 40 to 50 feet below water level and stack 40 to 50 feet high. Daily capacity would vary from 3000 to 4000 cubic feet. Yards. Revett, who built Swan’s Nest-now Tiger Run-was one of the dredge kings who brought told dredging to Colorado. Detta was born March 30, 1935 in Missoula, Montana. Her mother and father both worked for the school system in Missoula and raised food for their family on a small farm in the Bitterroot Valley. After they met in Pinedale, Wyoming, Detta and her husband, Bob, moved from place to place and finally settled in Leadville, Colorado. They both worked at the Climax mine. Detta also had a thriving art business, selling her charcoal drawings of abandoned mines to locals and tourists. From Leadville, Bob and Detta moved to Denver and eventually retired in Moab. Detta was active for many years at the Museum of Moab, volunteering at the front desk and curating exhibits. Detta loved Moab and her friends here. For nearly 25 years, she lived across the street from her older sister, Dorothy, and spent many hours hiking and gardening. Detta’s love for her family and friends was unconditional and caring. She was a wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma. She was blessed with two children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
