Description: Up for sale here are the two fashion design original works of art you see in the listing photos. These were in an old portfolio that I purchased at an estate sale. Included with the portfolio were several newspaper ads from 1959 for a Syracuse NY Department store. My assumption is that the artist worked for the department store and produced the art shown in the newspaper ads. But the two originals being sold here are not found in any of the newspaper ads. The one drawing/painting is on white paper which is glued to a black cardboard backboard measuring 11" x 14." The white paper is glued only for a couple of inches at the top. When I purchased this item, there were some small spots of discoloration around the outside edges of the the black backboard. It may have been the beginning of mold, but there wasn't a single spot of the discoloration on the white paper that the artwork is on. I had a large eraser nearby and decided to see if it would remove the spots, and it did. They rubbed right off. If you look at some of the photos, you may be able to see some rubbing marks on the black. They are from my erasing. That's something that you need to know about. The white-on-purple painting is especially nice. It also measures 11" x 14" and the white backer is not cardboard. It is a heavy paper. This item had none of the spotting that I erased from the black backboard of the other item. These beautiful vintage examples of commercial fashion art will be sent to you in protective sleeves. They will be packaged very well. I will include the 1959 newspaper page shown in one photo. The page was in the portfolio. Thank you.
