2 HC Copies The Great Bridge by David McCullough! One Special Edition! One 1st!!

Description: Here are two hardcover copies of David McCullough’s second published work The Great Bridge subtitled The Epic Story Of The Building Of The Brooklyn Bridge. One copy is a special edition published for the members of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the other is a true stated first printing as shown on a front colophon page and the copyright page of the true first. The special edition book is in very good condition. The light blue cloth boards and spine are very clean with some light fading around the edges. The copper gilt lettering on the spine as well as the author’s facsimile signature on the front board are still quite bright as shown. The dust jacket is complete and having been issued and distributed to only the members of the ASCE was issued without a price. There is no blind stamp on the rear board which if present would indicate a book club edition. The jacket has some wear and tear from handling over time mainly at the spine ends, along the edges, and at the corners. Both editions are illustrated with black and white drawings and photographs in two separate sections. The true stated first printing has seen better days cosmetically though the binding is square and tight and the pages clean of any writing throughout. The blue cloth boards have major staining on the front and rear boards as well as the spine. The copper gilt lettering is still quite legible on the spine as is the author’s facsimile signature on the front board. After about page 355 there is a noticeable waviness to the pages indicative of having been exposed to a spill which of course caused the staining to the outside boards. This copy does not include a dust jacket. As a true first, this is quite an uncommon title to be found in the wild so despite its condition I just couldn’t pass it up. So again you get two hardcover copies of McCullough’s second published book at a very competitive list price. And I am taking offers on this listing.
