Seller worked with William Messner-Loebs (WML) for six years, paying WML professional page rates for this job. This 32-page, magazine-size comic book contains: -- Front and back covers (shown in scans) in color, illustrated by WML. -- Full-page photo of Albert Payson Terhune (APT) over the indicia. -- A 22-page graphic narrative adaptation of APT’s story, Human Interest Stuff. -- One page with background on script-writer and artist (where artist drew the script-writer; and the script-writer drew the artist). -- The original text story by APT, Human Interest Stuff, headed by a drawing of APT by WML. -- One page with information on The Terhune Sunnybank Memorial. -- One page with information on the Wisconsin Writers Association (which financed the printing of this comic). -- Inside back cover: A listing of books by APT. Regular and alternate versions: 2 copies of this comic are included in this lot: the regular version, and the alternate version. 3000 copies of this comic were printed. Of that number, 300 copies are an “alternate” version. When seller / script-writer put in the dialogue electronically, he used a technique on three pages that WML thought clashed in style with the style of the rest of the adaptation. Seller / script-writer, acknowledging WML’s superior judgment on the matter, scrapped this technique at first; but, being mulishly stubborn, decided to apply the controversial technique to 300 copies of the 3000-copy print run. Seller / script-writer also made another obvious change in the alternate version, and additionally placed the words “Alternate version” on the indicia. Part of the reader’s fun will be to discover these differences. (The above is a Public Service message)
