2 VICTORIAN PHOTOS OF CURLY HAIR TWINS 1890s? CHICAGO, IL Carlson Bros. SHINING

Description: ITEM: Offered for sale here is a lot of two Victorian era photographs (approx. 1880s or 1890s), both showing the same pair of twin girls with very dramatically and elaborately curled hair. These photos are believed to be from Chicago, Illinois, which is where they were acquired. One photo, which I believe is a "boudoir mount," features only the twins and is embossed "Carlson Bros." at the bottom center. Carlson Bros. was a famous photo studio in Chicago, located at 3003-05 N. Clark St. Carlson Bros. took many photos of actors and other famous performers in Chicago ca. the late 1800s to the 1910s. Photo itself measures 4"x5.5", and the cardboard mount measures 6"x8". The second photo shows the girls as part of a wedding party, fulfilling shared flower girl duties. I believe this is an "imperial mount." This photo is also embossed "Carlson Bros.," though it's harder to see and is in the lower right. The photo measures just shy of 5"x6.5", and the black cardboard mount measures 7.25"x10". Please scroll down for a detailed statement of condition. CONDITION: The boudoir mount shows some edge wear and some marks/soiling around the edges. Also some corner blunting. The back of the photo shows a ghostly image of a man's face that transferred from another photo ostensibly sandwiched against this one. The imperial mount shows some minor edge wear as well, especially to the upper right corner. A couple spots of minor discoloration on the front, perhaps from long-ago handling. The back has a few light stains and marks.
