One of the more unique Fernandes instruments, the MG-85C is a signature model for Hideto “hide” Matsumoto, best known as the lead guitarist for the hugely popular band X Japan. This Fernandes features a Mockingbird-style body cast from solid acrylic, effectively pairing B.C. Rich and Dan Armstrong aesthetics, with a single active humbucker and streamlined controls. Weighing 10lbs 15oz and featuring an intonated wraparound tailpiece, this MG-85C has tons of natural sustain and resonance on tap, providing an ideal platform for the Fernandes F.G.I.-H active humbucker. This EMG-style active humbucker is powered by a 9v battery, big and bold-sounding with tight, aggressive lows and thick boosted mids, retaining focus and articulation no matter how dirty things get.
