This rectangular commemorative coin has been issued in honor of the Japanese artist Utamaro Kitagawa (1753-1806) and his work Young Woman Blowing a Glass Pipe. The famous woodblock print was created in 1794 and is part of the series "Ten Classes of Women's Physiognomy", which is dated to the period between 1753 and 1806 and emphasizes the various personality traits of the artist's models. On its obverse, the rectangular coin features a woman holding to her mouth an odd-shaped item like a small funnel. This item was called a poppin (or popen) and was used as a toy noisemaker. The reverse is common to the series. It depicts several views of many major French museums.
