Description: Here we have a 10 karat yellow gold classic ladies split shank, diamond accent ring featuring a really unique, oval natural green tourmaline and two round full brilliant cut natural diamonds. The tourmaline is "fantasy cut" with a faceted pavilion (underside) and a carved, buff top. The faceted pavilion gives it more brilliance than a typical cabochon cut gemstone, and the carved grooves create a very interesting play of light. This gem exhibits a really nice, even, dark green color and has eye clean clarity. The designer cut is what really distinguishes the gem, but I would rate the actual polish of the buffed top as fair; it could have benefitted from a little extra time being given it during the final polish. The gemstone measures 9.5 x 7.5 mm with an actual weight of 2.18 carats. Natural green tourmalines are routinely enhanced by heating and/or radiation to improve the color. Since these treatments are undetectable to the typical general practitioner gemologist, we are listing the gem as treated by these processes out of an abundance of caution. Advanced laboratory testing would be required to make any determination on possible gem treatments, but as previously indicated, these treatments are generally accepted and commonplace in today's marketplace. The diamonds average 1.7 mm in diameter with a combined weight of 0.04 carat. These diamonds have an average color graded at L/M (top light brown) and clarity at I-2/I-3 with good overall cut; they add a nice little bright sparkle and face up better than their technical grades. The tourmaline and the diamonds are all 100% genuine, natural, untreated, and unenhanced. This ring is solid gold and unworn; don't be duped into buying a cheap gold-plated ring or someone else's worn-out castoff!
