A dial cord is subject to friction whenever the set is tuned and must therefore possess reasonable resistance to abrasion. Nylon cord performs excellently in this respect. A very important property for a dial drive cord is that it have a high coefficient of friction. This requires that the cord should not become smooth or slick during use.
