Description: This listing is for a 14 karat yellow gold custom freeform pendant with chain, featuring a marquise shape natural rubellite tourmaline. The rubellite measures 12.5 - 6.6 x 5.2 mm and weighs 2.55 carats. This gemstone exhibits a dark purplish red color. It is heavily included with numerous internal inclusions, some of which break the surface and it has fair overall cut. Still, the gem still has enough life to showcase the deep, rich color, and the inclusions are not particularly distracting. Rubellite tourmaline is often irradiated to improve the color. We don't know for sure, but out of an abundance of caution we are listing it as irradiated just to be safe. Because radiation levels used are low and because they are subsequently "cooled", irradiated gems are perfectly safe to wear. But this is a genuine, natural gemstone! The pendant mounting was custom cast in a small Midwest manufacturing shop, altering a stock wax from the Paradise Wax Co. The pendant measures approximately 29 x 12 mm with a hidden bail opening that will accommodate up to about a 1.8 mm diameter chain. It comes with a nice, sturdy pendant style rope chain by Agem, but it easily slides off to be changed. The chain is finished to 18 inches in length and is held with a quality spring ring clasp, style number CH-41-18Y. The pendant weighs 2.5 grams and the chain weighs 1.2 grams for a total weight of the piece of about 3.7 grams. This piece was originally priced at $1,250 in our brick and mortar fine jewelry store that closed in 2020.
