2pg 1853 letter Robert Ashby Bugbrook Bugbrooke England - Great Britain Scott# 5

Description: 2-page letter with no heading that was written over a period of time. The final date being within the content "I have sent you a L20 Draft Number 64751 Dated the 7th of March 1853." This letter is addressed to "Waukesha Post Office, Robert Philip, Waukesha, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States, North America." On the obverse of this letter is a "BUGBROOK" orange datestamp, undated. Above the undated orange BUGBROOK is a One Shilling cut-to-octagon Great Britain #5 that was wrapped around the upper left corner to also seal the letter along the left edge and was damaged in the process. It is cancelled with an "851" black cancel. "851" was WEEDON, ENGLAND. On the reverse is a "WEEDON MR 11 1853" transit marking in green. Also on the reverse, a "LIVERPOOL" blue green transit marking "LIVERPOOL MR 12 1852" in blue-green. On the reverse is a green Liverpool Oval "MR 12" to denote it was transferred for transatlantic passage. On the obverse, a "N. YORK BR. PKT. PAID 24" in red was applied with a date slug of "MAR 26." That took care of the letter's incoming postage, by treaty. On top of the New York datestamp was applied a "5 Cents" by the New York Postmaster for the letter's unpaid journey to Waukesha. But could the Waukesha postmaster have realized to collect that given the blurriness of the markings? Content includes (most spelling corrected)--and this was written over a period of time: "1852 August 12. A flood the 15 on Sunday. A flood October the 26 to the 31 of December. 7 Floods January 6 Thunder. Floods all over England November and December and to the 15th of December.
