Someone randomly cuts to a card (the 7 of clubs), memorizes it, and shuffles it back into the deck. The magician pulls out a wallet with one face-down card inside and tells the audience the card's value is exactly half the value of the card the person cut to earlier. "For example, if the card was the 10 of hearts, this card would be the 5 of hearts," says the magician. "Or if the card was the 8 of spades, this card would be the 4 of spades." The person who cut to the card starts to laugh because their card was the 7 of clubs, and of course half the value of 7 is 3 1/2.
