Nearly all rusted-on-shaft bearings we have come across occur with the lower housing bearing. Avoid using grease because it will, simply, attract dust and cause other issues. The anti-seize makes removal of the bearings easier, thus, avoiding damage to the armature. If you have to tap on the ends of the shaft, use a brass hammer or steel hammer-wood block set up... the shaft ends get deformed easily. : We were careful in specifying it was an "OEM replacement" and not "OEM" per the definition: "An OEM refers to something made specifically for the original product, while the aftermarket refers to equipment made by another company that a consumer may use as a replacement." : We researched and tested the metal shielded bearings in the lower housing of several D4C/SE units and found no water infiltration: The lower housing bearing is exposed to moisture that is not under pressure, i.e., incidental. The metal shields, apparently, last longer and, hence, seal better than the rubber shields due in part to less friction between the shield and bearing race.
