4 Demitasse Teacup TRIOS by Haviland of New York “CLINTON” Blue Flowers c1937

Description: Add a touch of elegance to your tea time with these 4 lovely sets of porcelain small or demitasse tea cups and saucers and dessert plates from Theodore Haviland of New York. The pattern is called Clinton and it is decorated with shades of blue flowers and leaves on a cream background, accented with gold trim. The area below the cream band is slightly whiter. It would be a great way to treat yourself and friends to a cup of tea or coffee with a treat or a sandwich, then display it because it is so pretty…after all it is Haviland! This is a lovely pattern, it is not often you find a pattern with blue flowers! This backstamp with Theodore Haviland in red, inside a black border was used between 1937 and 1956, according to Havilandonline. They probably started some production in the US because of unrest in Europe which turned into WWII, for fear of problems shipping to the US from France, so Haviland made it here! These vintage sets are in excellent condition, with no cracks, crazing or chips. There is minimal wear to the cups, saucers or plates, and the minimal wear to gold trim. Looking at the glaze at an angle to the light, only a couple of faint marks in the glaze, they appear to have barely been used. A really lovely set. The demitasse cups hold 1/3 cup, or about 3 ounces, are 2 & 3/4 inches in diameter, and stand 2 & 3/8 inches tall. The saucers are 5 inches in diameter, the plates are 7 & 1/2 inches in diameter. One trio set of cup, saucer and plate weighs about 15.5 ounces. The last picture shows a teacup saucer next to a regular size teacup, so you can get a good idea of the size of the teacups.
