Description: In 1204 AD, an army of Latin “Christian” Crusaders (4th Crusade) headed to Jerusalem to fight the Ottomans. Along the way they decided to overtake the Eastern Orthodox Christian (Byzantine) empire in Constantinople. They occupied it for about six decades before being driven out. They eroded the strength of the once mighty Byzantine Empire enough that it was easily captured later by the Ottomans. Constantinople, founded by Constantine The Great, is modern day Istanbul, Turkey. This crudely made cupped coin is a historical relic of that era. The obverse is a Depiction of Christ. The reverse is not detailed. Poor Richards Classic Coins; where history comes to life! As pictured. Many have cracks and breaks because of their design. All coins are sold as is.
