About the Book ~ "The English writer Agnes Strickland (1796~1874) began her career writing poetry and romances before turning to biographical studies. This series [we are offering 5 volumes here], first published between 1840 and 1849 [ours were published in 1902 and 1903], was her most ambitious project. It provides biographical accounts of the queens of England. Hugely popular in the Victorian period, Lives of the Queens of England remains an important landmark in the development of biography as a genre, and provide interesting perspectives on women's contribution to modern historiography." The Queens include ~ Volume VI = Mary; Volume VII = Elizabeth Second; Volume XIV = Mary II; Volume XV = Anne; and Volume XVI = Anne (continued). ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ This rare Numbered Book Lot would be nice for any Historian, Collector, or for anyone interested in British History, Royalty, or the Queens of England!
