Description: Presented is a set of 6 English sterling silver spoons in the Hanoverian pattern. The spoons are by a variety of makers, but they all match in style and date to 18th century. Two of the spoons are monogrammed on the reverse of the handle with "C I*A". One of the spoons is monogrammed on the reverse of the handle with "T S". One of the spoons is engraved on the handle with a crest of a goat's head. One of the spoons is engraved on the handle with a crest of hound or dragon's head. The remaining spoon's handle is blank. These are all sturdy and well made serving spoons, in great shape especially for their age, and make a very attractive set. All six of the spoons are hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver and the leopard's head crowned for the city of London. Two of the spoons are hallmarked with the date letter b for 1737 and the maker's mark for James Wilks. One of the spoons is hallmarked with the date letter R for 1732 and a maker's mark we unfortunately do not recognize. One of the spoons is hallmarked with the date letter B for 1757 and a maker's mark we unfortunately do not recognize. One of the spoons is hallmarked with what we believe is the date letter b for 1737 and a maker's mark possibly for James Wilkes. The final spoon has a date letter L for 1726 or maybe 1806, and a maker's mark which is unfortunately obscured. This set is in excellent overall condition. Two of the spoons have some slight dents to the bowl. There are no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Each spoon is approximately 7 7/8 inches long. This set weighs 401 grams or 14.1 ounces. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
