A distinction is made between the genuine cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) from Sri Lanka and the unhealthy somewhat sharper spicy cassia cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia) from China, which is also cultivated in Indonesia, Vietnam and other countries.
