The Ferrari 412P (also known as the P3/4, the privateers' model) was part of Enzo Ferrari's revenge strategy after losing to the Ford manufacturer's team in the 1966 season. This revamped and improved version of the previous P3 managed to do just what it was intended to, beat the rival on their home turfthe 24 Hours of Daytona. At Daytona, Mairesse and Beurlys made it 401 laps before dropping out of the race with gearbox failure. Despite their bad luck, Ferrari swept the podium with a trio of cars including two factory P4s and a NART 412P.
