Description: Here are 8 old, black & white photos taken on a farm or ranch with horses. Three of the photos were taken July 30, 1944 by Tony Bova of 56 Diamond St. Souderton, Pa according to the stamp on the back of them. These three are of: 1. a man on a light colored horse with fancy stirrups marked with an F, as well as a fancy bridle and other straps 2. a group of 4 woman on horseback, one of the women is riding the same horse the man was riding in the other photo, and there is another woman on a horse done up the same way. 3. A group of 6 men working on perhaps training a horse, two men are holding ropes attached to his bridle. The other 5 photos are stamped on the back NEVER-FADE Photo Prints and are dated 1944, but the month and day weren't stamped on very well, it could be AUG 3 1944. There is writing on the back of these photos. The photos look like the same group of men with the horse in the last photo the caption on the back reads: 38. One rope around neck & a halter attached. The next photo reads: 47. Rope around the ass asserts him to truck, and shows the men trying to move the horse along somewhere. The next photo shows the men gathered around the horse and reads: 43. But it takes four men to persuade him. After those photos is a photo of a group riding horses in from a trail past an old home, on the back it reads: 44. Riding into advance base. The last photo features a large group of people sitting around two long tables eating at night. On the back of this one it reads: 50. Enjoyed -- just before a cloudburst. The photos are nice, with minimum wear from age and storage. Some look like they were cut down in size, or maybe printed that way, I am not sure. Neat old photos, a great research project. I did some research and found the photographer of some of them, Tony Bova was born in Steubenville, Ohio, in 1905 the son of Peter and Nellie Bova. The family then moved to Baltimore, MD. He was married to Florence Miller in Berks County, PA in 1929, they lived in Franconia, the moved to Souderton by 1935. He was employed in the garment industry in the area for 50 years and was an avid photographer, who had photos printed in various books written about the local area. He passed away in 1998. Unfortunately, there is nothing written on the photos identifying any of the people or a location. Postage will be 4.40 to the U. S. IF OUTSIDE THE U. S., PLEASE USE THE POSTAL CALCULATOR TO DETERMINE THE COST OF POSTAGE. If you like old photographs and ephemera, please check out my EBay store and the other old photos I have listed.
