Description: A Return To The Inner Experience by Sky Cries Mary Seattle’s Sky Cries Mary were a band lost amidst that city’s huge number of mostly dreadful grunge bands during the 1990s – a period when I tended to see “alternative” as meaning loud, noisy and tuneless music preaching violence. Despite some attention from major labels, who failed completely to market them, Sky Cries Mary were completely unknown both to me and other music listeners until last year, when I read them compared with Dead Can Dance. Whilst Dead Can Dance’s 1990s music was annoyingly generic tribal music, on ‘Within the Realm of a Dying Sun’ and ‘The Serpent’s Egg’ they had achieved a powerfully deep, slow, gothic sound that was actually in essense soul music at 16 rpm. All used disks are professionally refurbished and test played before shipping and will play well in most machines.
