Author Biography Born in 1976, Matthew Martin studied music at Magdalen College, Oxford and the Royal Academy of Music. He began composing at an early age at school and is now gaining recognition as an exciting and original voice in choral music. His works are regularly performed, broadcast and recorded both in this country and further afield, and appear on both the Hyperion and Chandos labels. He has written music for many leading choirs, including the Cardinalls Musick and the choirs of Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral. Recent commissions for new works have come from the BBC Singers (Latin Nunc Dimittis - 2011), St Johns College, Cambridge (The St Johns Service - 2011) and the New London Childrens Choir. Matthew was Assistant Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral from 2004 to 2010, having previously held positions at Canterbury Cathedral and New College, Oxford. During his time as Acting Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral in 2008, he directed a rare and highly acclaimed recording for Hyperion of Victorias Missa Gaudeamus with the Lay Clerks.
