Description: "John Lewis, a well known local jazz musician, sculptor, and painter crafted his work in his San Anselmo studio (28 Timothy Ave), while still finding time to play 5 or more musical events per week. He often volunteered for Bread and Roses and other Marin based non-profit organizations. Before moving to Marin, Lewis was the Head of the Sculpture Deperment at Purdue University, and then taught locally as an art professor at College of Marin and CCAC. He is especially known for his lifelike bronze busts, and his large welded steel art pieces depicting creatures, vehicles, and designs created from 1950's chrome automobile bumpers." -Lucien Legacy, Marin County
