Description: Adams & Company Antique Palace aka Moon and Star 8 3/8" Round Compote Very nice antique Adams & Company (1861-1891) Palace patten AKA Moon and Star 8 3/8 inch tall Round Compote. Adams produced this compote from 1888 until 1891. Shows no or little use. Several straw marks and swirls in the glass which is typical of EAPG (Early American Pressed Glass). Small chip on base as shown in photo. Glows in UV light. Pressed / Pattern Glass EAPGCrafted in the USA - Pittsburgh, PA Adams & Company (1961-1891): In 1874, Adams & Company introduced a new pattern of pressed glass called “Palace”. Interestingly, this glassware eventually earned the nickname “Moon and Star” due to its star-like design and the round depression that resembled a moon shape. The pattern was characterized by its intricate details, including stars, rosettes, and circles. Early pieces from the 1880s were primarily clear glass and came in various shapes, such as goblets, sugar bowls, creamers, butter dishes, relish trays, shakers, spoon rests, and candy compotes. Some pieces featured twisted handles, which were made separately and added to select items.
