Description: This is a delightful and original mixed media painting. Many African American artists, and many Central African artists, use exaggerated form in expressing their culture and a joyful celebration of life in that culture. I have traveled through Central Africa on seven occasions: Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania. My humble observations are that where lack and poverty are common, community and celebration abounds even more. The countries mentioned have enjoyed a relative peace over the seven years I have traveled there. I think the joys of life are deeply expressed in artwork originating from the central African countries mentioned. This artwork is just a very small expression of it. As a funny footnote: Our vision team served in Ougies, Kenya in April of 2018. Next to the Dendo Cafe (where we had evening meals often) was a hair shop, called Saloons there. Much like hair salons in America, the saloons there are a place where the ladies gather. I poked my near bald head inside the curtain door of the saloon and asked the hair dresser if she could do anything with it. At the time she was putting in very long hair extensions for the lady in her chair. The room full of women burst out in laughter (yes, they understand English very well). From that day forward I had made a new friend with the saloon keeper. So this artwork is a reminder of that beautiful time in Kenya. I will package this lovely original artwork with great care for shipping. Shipping by: USPS., UPS., or FedEx., depending upon the delivery area.
