Description: Albert Camus : “La Chute”, Paris, Gallimard, 1956. The confessions, in the Mexico-city bar in Amsterdam, of Jean-Baptiste Clamence the “judge-penitent” -as he calls himself. After reading this book, one no longer crosses the Seine on a Parisian bridge in the same way – without questioning. One of our favorite books. First edition, one of 235 numbered copies on pure vellum (n° 176), after 35 on Holland. Presence of an ex-libris (photo): "dpv Impose ta chance" - probably in reference to the poem by René Char (with whom Camus was also very close). Very beautiful binding signed Alix (with slipcase, see photo): dark brown morocco, smooth spine, gilt title, gilt head, cover and spine preserved. Some foxing on a couple of pages (photo), otherwise a very nice copy.
