Description: Virgin and Child in a Landscape Engraving by Aegidius Sadeler II (Netherlandish, Antwerp 1568–1629 Prague) After a watercolor by Albrecht Dürer (German, Nuremberg 1471–1528 Nuremberg) ca. 1597 Sadeler, one of the leading Dutch engravers of the 17th century, made this print after a watercolor by Durer. Here the German artist's attention to botanical details and animal life is well realized to depict a natural world in harmony. The fine details in this print are truly exquisite and full of texture. In excellent condition. On laid paper with watermark. Probably an impression from the late 1700s or 1800s. Lettered in plate, in lower left: "Cum privil S.C.M.tis"; in lower margin: "ALBERTUS DURER ALMANUS INVENTOR / S. C. Mtis. SCULPTOR AEGID: SADELER SCULPSIT." Sheet: 13 5/16 x 9 5/8 in
