Description: Ambrotype of a Gentleman (Politician?) c1860 3 ¼” x 2 ¾” photo of a gentleman on glass. Front shows a positive image, but when reverse is held up to light, it appears as a negative. I do not know much about old photography, but from what I read on the Web, this has the characteristics of an ambrotype. A few imperfections in the photo, but no chips or cracks. The rectangular dark spot across his chest is a reflection only and is not on the glass.
