Often, it is associated with the creation stories of tribes, and the reddish color represents the spilled blood of warriors. For example, red argillite indicates the presence of iron in the rock, which oxidized when exposed to oxygen-specific rock color of Utah's canyons. Note: This Anasazi Artifact was legally collected from the Three Cedars Ranch property which had an Anasazi ruin near Blanding, Utah. That ranch no longer exists because there is a Uranium Processing Mill on site covering the ruin. It is illegal to collect artifacts from public land as it is federally protected.
