Description: Krasnyansky was born in Kiev in the Ukraine and his family fled to Russia to avoid the Nazi occupation during the early part of WWII. Later on in 1975 he left Russia for freedom of expression and came to the United States where he became a citizen. His earlier paintings using watercolor depict life scenes from his earlier period. Later in life he started leaning to a more surrealistic style. This piece is titled Grey Day in Russia II and shows a winter scene from his earlier days. The piece shows his mastery of watercolor and the simplicity of life early on in eastern Europe. My ONLY reason for selling this piece is that as I get older, I have to downsize and I'll be moving into much smaller quarters. This is a piece I hate to part with but out of circumstances, I must.As the present circumstances in the Ukraine have affected all of us, it is worthwhile to note that the artist was responsible for raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Ukrainian relief effort before his passing in March of 2023.
