Indeed, he'd established himself as something of a fledgling Teen Idol figure, playing romantic lead roles, while he'd also enjoyed a brief, parallel mini-career as a singer. In 1956 he cut a trio of well-received singles and an LP, "Tony Perkins", for the Epic label. The following year he signed with RCA-Victor, for whom he cut two albums, "From My Heart" and "On A Rainy Afternoon", plus a half-dozen singles, including his sole US Top 40 hit 'Moon-light Swim'.
