Anthurium clarinervium is a tropical plant native to southern Mexico and Central America, commonly known as the velvet cardboard anthurium or the queen anthurium. It is a unique and visually striking plant with its large, heart-shaped leaves that are covered in velvety green and white stripes, giving it an almost iridescent look. Light: Anthurium clarinervium prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight as this can scorch the leaves. A north-facing window is a good choice, or an east or west-facing window with a sheer curtain to filter the light. Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Water less frequently in the winter when the plant is dormant. Avoid using hard water or water that has passed through a water softener, as this can cause leaf burn and yellowing. Humidity: Anthurium clarinervium is a tropical plant that thrives in high humidity. Place the plant on a tray of pebbles filled with water to increase humidity around the plant. Alternatively, use a humidifier or group it with other plants to create a microclimate. Soil and Fertilizer: Anthurium clarinervium prefers well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Use a peat-based mix that retains moisture but also allows for good drainage. Fertilize once a month during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength. Avoid fertilizing in the winter when the plant is dormant. ***LISTING INFO*** Nearly all of our plant listings are grower's choice. We select a plant or two from a single batch of 15 to 100 plants to photograph for our listing photos. We move such a high volume of plants and offer such a wide selection of varieties that photographing each plant would take away from our ability to process and ship orders. Every plant of the same size and variety will not look exactly alike. Instead, we practice the industry standard of selling plants based on pot size. Our only exception to this rule is “Exact Plant” rare specimens. For these listings, we feature several photos of the exact plant you will receive and state that the exact plant is being offered in the product's title along with the plant’s unique ID #.
