Description: Antique 1800s European? Colorful Pottery Fruit Flowers Basket Form Teapot Presented is a unique old handmade pottery teapot, dating to circa 1750-1850. We are not sure the origin of the piece, possibly it is Chinese for export, possibly continental European such as German. The piece is made to look like a woven basket type of surface, decorated with applied fruit and flowers, very colorful and eye-catching against the more neutral unglazed color of the rest of the piece. Grapes, grape leaves, red fruit, chrysanthemums, all very detailed and textured. The teapot has a capacity of about 2 cups, or 16 fluid ounces/473 milliliters, though I would say with the unglazed interior it might be better as a decorative piece. There is an impressed mark on the underside which we unfortunately do not recognize, and what may be a signature or other mark in white on the underside of the lid. This piece is in excellent condition. There are some lines in the original making of the piece here and there, as this is a handmade piece of pottery, but these are not breaks or damage. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The teapot measures about 7 inches long from handle to spout, and stands about 4 inches tall at the top of the lid. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
