Description: Antique, silver-plated spoon marked "1847 Rogers Bros A1". Bowl is a shell design. Finely embossed handle decoration in "Chicago" or "Newport" pattern (online sources show both names for the same pattern). Produced in 1879. May have been used originally to serve sugar or soft fruit, like berries. No monogram. Measures almost 6" long x 1.5" wide. (About the same size as a standard teaspoon but with a slightly larger bowl.) Good condition with signs of use/wear. From smoke free home.
