Description: Antique 1870s American Primitive FOLK ART Wood Tiered SPOOL SHELF Click images to enlarge Description ANTIQUE SPOOL SHELF Wonderful antique 19thc. primitive hand made American spool shelf measuring 30" tall (not including the wire and cord hanger), 18" wide (across the bottom shelf) and 4-1/2" deep. Featuring three graduated shelves measuring 14", 16" and 18", sides are made by threading old thread spools to create the side supports - back and sides are open and shown. Condition is exactly what you want to see from a folk art primitive wall shelf dating to the 1870s - there are rubs, chipped spools, cased dust, and all the inconsistencies of a hand made piece - the finish is dark with age. The hanger is a sturdy wire loop wrapped in cord and rather messy - but it supports the shelf perfect for display and is original. I purchased this in Ohio from a farm auction, and have displayed it hanging over a matching spool table for years - it has such a wonderful look - so unique and one-of-a-kind - a nice addition to any home, collection or display!
