Antique 1880s GAR Leather Wrapped Souvenir Miniature Canteen 4.5"

Description: I am pleased to offer this Antique c.1880s GAR "We Drank from the Same Canteen" Mini Souvenir!These canteens were made at the large GAR encampments post Civil-War as a commemoration to the Grand Army of the Republic. This particular miniature canteen is made of metal which has leather covers on each side. Both sides feature the same design, the GAR star emblem in the center surrounded by "We Drank From The Same Canteen 1861-1865". The canteen has a bronze spout, equipped with the original chain and cork stopper. The spout is marked by "Hall & Breckenridge Meriden, Conn." Measures approx. 4-1/2" Diameter x 1-5/8" WCondition:This antique GAR canteen is in good condition for its age, showing some moderate cracking, staining, and wear to the leather covers. The writing is very faded and hard to read in parts. The outside rim of the canteen is exposed and shows moderate oxidation.
