Description: Antique 1902 Whiting LILY pattern STERLING silver Serving Spoon 8 1/4"approximately 75 gramsornate multiple lily patternTHORPE & HORBERG mid-handle on back. Thorpe & Horberg were jewelers in Chicago that opened in 1900. In 1910 they became Thorpe & Co. Whiting was the manufacturer of the Lily pattern and made some for Thorpe & Horberg for retail sale. This pattern was first introduced in 1902. The mark is the standing lion with the W inside a circle to the left (from your viewpoint). No date symbol so the fork is pre-1905 (after 1905 Whiting added a symbol to signify the date of manufacture). The spoon has PAT APP FOR but no date. Most likely manufactured 1902-1905 Whiting Silver Manufacturing Company, New York, New York was in business from 1866-1926 when it was absorbed into Gorham. Some surface scratches on both sides of the bowl. Monogram 'C' I think. Cursive "Browning" inscribed on the reverse near the top.Photos taken pre and post the shining of the spoon
