Description: Amazing Primitive Antique Beehive Stoneware 5 Gallon Jug for area Estate. It has Orange Peel Salt Glaze with Cobalt hand painted decoration of 5 and Bee Sting. On rear near bottom is an impressed H. I have been told it is Ohio River Valley stoneware, probably made around Akron, Ohio, maybe from the Weeks Brothers in the final quartr of the 1800s. It is similar to Red Wing stoneware. Size: 19 1/2" h x 11" w. Weighs 20 lbs. Condition: Fine glaze crazing present. Tiny ding on spout, see close up. NOTE: Last photo shows another old Ovoid Saltglaze Jug from same Estate, listed separately.
