Description: Antique 19th Century African Islamic Hausa stirrups In Turkish Style to sword Antique 19th Century African Islamic Hausa stirrups In Turkish Ottoman Style Click images to enlarge Description A pair of ornate, antique, 19th century, African Islamic, Hausa warrior brass horse stirrups, made in Turkish Ottoman manner. Each with very high, strongly curved treads/footplates pierced in the center with rosette and surmounted by arched cross bar with a hexagonal suspension loop, sides are engraved with a complex geometric motif. One of the stirrups cast with the funnel to rest upon, the bottom of the lancer's lance a spear-shaped pointed shoe of the staff. DIMENSIONS: Approximately: Height: 25.5cm (10.04 inches) Length: 24.5cm (9.65 inches) Width at arched cross bar: 13.5cm (5.31 inches) CONDITION: Showing the age and usage, some residue of polish. one of the stirrups has a small fracture on the base.
