Description: This antique American claret jug is a stunning piece of history. Crafted in the early 19th century, the jug is hand blown with applied handle, footed base and a polished pontil. It comes with a unground glass stopper, which may not be original. The jug measures approximately 7.5 inches to top of handle, 9.5 inches to top of stopper, it sits on a 3.5 inch diameter base. This jug would make a great addition to any antique collection and is a true treasure for any collector. Provenance: deaccessioned from the Fine Art Museums of San Francisco. Museum inventory number painted on foot but is not permanent and can be removed. Museum quality condition. The item(s) are antique and sold as is.
