Description: The “New Creedmoor” bank was manufactured by J &E Steven’s Co., Cromwell, Ct. it was based on the “Creedmoor” patent issued by James H. Bowen, Philadelphia, Pa. On November 6, 1877. Apparently, Steven’s took the opportunity to issue a bank with little pattern changes required. The wording on the base and different foot positions were the only changes needed. The wording “New Creedmoor November 6, 1877” appears on the top of the base. In 1896 Steven’s used the William Tell figure from the “New Creedmoor” on their “William Tell” bank.
