Description: Offered here is a very fine ANTIQUE BLACKSMITH MADE SET OF SHORT TRAMMEL POINTS WITH TWO WIDE WING NUTS THAT SECURE THE DOUBLE CROSS-BAR SECTIONS TOGETHER. I can not see any blacksmith name or manufacturing marking on this old tool. The points measure 6 inches in length and the cross-bars measure 5-1/4 inches in length. The cross-bars are mortised into the points, fixed at the end point, and sliding at the other point for adjusting the width of the points. As you can see, the wing nuts are very large and hammered flat and thin. They thread into the sliding point and secure it when in use. This old pair of trammels was probably made in the early 1800's, maybe earlier. Great for your antique tool - blacksmith made tool collection. See photos for additional details.
