The brass seems to have a gold overlaid finish which has a nice antique patinated gold tone to it which can be easily removed with fine steel wool if desired. No dents, cracks or gouges in the brass. The socket cover shell is stamped "250 W. BRYANT 250 V. PAT'D NOV. 26, 1907 MADE IN U.S.A." Skinny boy / slim design.
