Description: A magnificently preserved large camphor (Chinese: zhangmu) chest originating from Hebei Province, China in the late 19th century and restored by C.L. Ma Antiques in Tianjin, China in the mid-1990's. The chest measures 64"W x 27"D x 27"H and is 33"H when sitting in the recessed elevated base platform. The interior is fitted with 3 handle-less drawers at the rear just below the hinged top that are opened by pushing out from underneath the drawers. The hinged top is secured by a large metal lingzhi shaped latch. All metalwork latches, handles and hinges are original. The chest is in excellent condition, there is no post-restoration damage.
