Description: Antique Collectible Aladdin Alladin G-63 Moonstone Electric Table Lamp with Base Light 1935 Packaged Carefully for Safe Delivery to its New Owner with Fast and Free Shipping This listing is for the G-63 lamp ONLY. The finial shown (Photo #8) is for sale in a Separate Listing. I photographed the lamp with the finial to show the elegance of the lamp/finial combination. The shade shown in (Photos #4, #5, #6) is NOT included. It is an old shade in poor condition that I used so I could photograph the lamp with the light on to demonstrate that it is in working order. As you can see in the photos, the lamp was rewired at some point with the new cord being attached to the old cloth cord (Photo #3). The replacement cord is itself rather brittle and discolored (Photo #9), indicating that it was installed years ago. Even though the lamp works and functions normally, all lamps, especially one of this age (86 years), should be rewired for safety. The top rim of the base (where the top plate screws on) is rough and uneven. The is how these lamps came out of the mold and is typical of these molded lamps (Photo #10). The top plate screws on easily and fits well. Amazing Moonstone Aladdin table lamp created in 1935, the year Henry Helmers was hired as Glass House Superintendent for The Mantle Lamp Company/Aladdin Industries, Inc. The lamp is approximately 19 1/2" tall to the top of the harp. "Nearly all of the Aladdin Lamps eagerly sought today owe their creation to two men: Henry Helmers, who formulated the glass and Eugene Schwarz who designed the shapes into which the glass was molded. Between them, these men served Aladdin for more than two decades." (Aladdin Electric Lamps, page 41, by J.W. Courter). This remarkable G-63 table lamp resulted from the collaboration between these two gifted men.Its soft, smooth white moonstone glass lends an elegant touch to the decor of any room. The raised relief flowers which adorn the glass base add a delightful eye-pleasing quality to the overall appeal of this lamp. The lighted base gives the glass and the room a soft glow. A separate switch located on the screw-on top plate operates the base light and a pull chain on the socket operates the top light. There are small remnants of the white latex paint remaining on the inside of the base. Most of the Aladdin glass lamps with were painted on the inside when they were produced, to cover the cord, mold flaws or thin areas of the glass. This one is beautiful and looks amazing with light shining from within the base. The light shining through the thinner parts of the glass creates an awesome glow.
